The Alliance invites proposals to expand artificial intelligence compute resources

The Digital Research Alliance of Canada (the Alliance) has invited proposals from seven institutions currently providing compute resources and services to address the urgent need for more Artificial Intelligence (AI) compute capacity for Canadian researchers. Through its National AI Compute – Rapid Deployment initiative , the Alliance is investing up to $40 million in the 2025-2026 fiscal year to deploy dedicated AI infrastructure that complements existing national capabilities. The new infrastructure will be composed of high-performance multi-GPU clusters designed to support a diverse range of demanding AI workflows.

The proposals will be received and reviewed over the summer, with funding to follow in early fall to procure and install the new infrastructure by the end of the fiscal year.
