There are two categories of membership: Primary Members (voting) and Associate Members (non-voting).
Primary (Voting) Members are post-secondary institutions, research hospitals and/or affiliated institutes that are eligible for Tri-Council grants. Annual Membership fees range from $5,000 to $15,000, based on research intensity.
Associate (Non-Voting) Members include post-secondary institutions that choose not to be Voting Members and national organizations with DRI-related associations that have a significant amount of activity in one of the three DRI pillars – Advanced Research Computing (ARC), Research Data Management (RDM) and/or Research Software (RS).

All membership must be approved by the Board.
Membership is not required to access the programs of the Alliance, which will be made available to eligible researchers and research institutions across Canada. However, the Alliance’s governance will rest and draw upon the engagement and commitment of its membership.
